History
Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival is Australia’s biggest sporting and social event, encompassing 50 days of racing, social events and fashion.
The Melbourne Cup Carnival runs from 30 October until 6 November and is comprised of four unique race days:
AAMI Victoria Derby Day – Saturday, 30 October 2010
Emirates Melbourne Cup – Tuesday, 2 November 2010
Crown Oaks Day – Thursday, 4 November 2010
Emirates Stakes Day – Saturday, 6 November 2010
The $5.6 million Emirates Melbourne Cup is a 149 year old iconic event that literally stops the nation! It is held at the Flemington Race Course, only 22 km away from Quest Sanctuary Lakes Serviced Apartments. An easy drive down the Princes Highway will take you directly to Flemington, or you could make the most of Melbourne’s fantastic public transport system. We are a mere five minute drive from the nearest train station, and from there, Melbourne’s extensive train and tram network offers a multitude of ways to get to Flemington quickly and easily.
